Reduce Stress to Reduce
Inflammation
Inflammation is an immune system response that's
important for healing. Chronic inflammation, however, is
an over-reaction of the immune system.
How Inflammation Interferes with Weight Loss
Inflammation can prevent weight gain because it keeps your cortisol, or stress levels high. That increases insulin
-- the fat-storing hormone.
Solutions to Chronic Inflammation
Reduce inflammation by avoiding foods that can increase
inflammation: dairy, starches, sugar, alcoholic
beverages, caffeinated beverages, such as coffee and
sodas and artificial
sweeteners. Also avoid foods to which you could be
allergic.
Reducing your stress levels can help reduce
inflammation. Lighten both your long-term and short-term
stress. You'll need to modify your current lifestyle and
find time everyday to decompress from stress. On a daily
basis, take 1-2 TB. fish oil (or 5-10 capsules), do
aerobic exercise for at least 20 minutes daily, and
avoid the stress-producing foods listed above.
